Auntie Dely-Gracious Ballerina

When you were born to a family of artists not to mention their beauteous ladies and dashing gentlemen, both maternal and paternal, expectations were high.Visual,Literary and Performing Arts, name it they had it.Conversations during family gatherings were about..who wrote this, who painted this, who performed this and who won the latest beauty pageant. Both academic and artistic achievements were recognized as if they were having a roll call.As a little girl, who loved to tag along with my mom Minini and my mama lola Esther, most often than not,I was always present on numerous family reunions and gatherings, with or without special occasions.
I was a big eyed little girl, ordinary looking so I thought,'cause my younger sister was the pretty one,in fact she still is.So I just watched and listened attentively, fascinated by their never ending talks about arts.
Auntie Dely was the celebrated ballerina of the Napay-Grageda clan, she used to have wonderful Cultural shows,in which we were always invited.Little did they know that I was observing Auntie Dely in every graceful moves she took, the way she talked and even her facial expressions whether she was performing or simply chatting with my mom.Her soft voice lingered in my memory, she had that kind stare,as if looking deeply into your soul.I thought then, how I would love to dance like her,to talk like her and most especially to look like her.But knowing I wasn't the pretty one and without talents (did I mention I sing horribly?) so I thought from my mom's brood,I just contented myself watching from the sides.
But lo and behold,in one of our numerous visits to her home in Albay, one most unforgettable amazing day,she suddenly turned her face towards me,really looked at me and said in a soft voice..."Minini,look at Dreamrose's eyes! She has beautiful, very expressive eyes!"Those words were imprinted in my young mind. Finally I thought I have an asset too!I am beautiful too!Well it came from one of the most talented and beautiful ladies of the Gragedas so she should be right I supposed! From then on...little by little I believed in myself,I began to dance, expressed myself through dancing, with all my heart and soul.I may not have become a professional ballerina like her,but her loving recognition of me,made a big role in building my confidence silently.
Yes Auntie Dely, you never knew until now, that is...if you read this somehow, that I am your most avid fan!You are my mentor,my gracious and lovely ballerina Auntie Dely!
Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

Dawning Dusk

Complex may it seem
A little rose was conceived
Somehow from a love that's torn
Fragile she may seem
Alas strongly fought
Even the mightiest storm.

Eyes as big as her heart
Taught to love even if not loved
To share even there was none
To dance in the silence of the night.

A voice as loud as thunder feared
Never cried to show her fear
Lest she'll be hurt
From dusk to dawn to last.

A shield for beloved siblings
Vowed to keep them safe
Never mind she'll take the blows
For a mom so kind and dear.

Through the years she fought
To love a man most feared
Only the woman so tender in her heart she kept
Overwhelmed by tears and pains.

Heavens took them both
To leave her all alone
Thank God three sons were born
To claim them as her own.

CPwc turned 1 year old...

Cpwc in action
Let  me tell you how it started...my version :)))

One afternoon as I was browsing the net,I saw in my notification Gina B.Nacion, whom I fondly call (Imay) added me in a group called Camalig's Pride (women's corner).I thought....hmmmmmm...this is nice!An exclusive group for women, and all Camaliguenas at that!My beloved hometown. There were a few members yet,so I took their photos and posted it on our wall. You see.a simple housewife like me,with three grown up sons has so much idle time.I added my lady friends and relatives who are from Camalig too.All of a sudden,as if my fingers had minds of their own, tapped the keys. When I looked down to read it,the words were these...
"Why don't we make this group worthwhile?Let's feed the needy children in our hometown.Just one meal,we can contribute small amounts, only according to our capacity.Anyway small amounts when combined can feed a small group of our less fortunate kids back home.Let's put smiles on their faces."
Without thinking,I posted it on our wall.stood up,left my laptop for a little while. When I got back,to my surprise a lot liked and commented,"Let's do it!"
     Ohhh my!What did I do?!I thought,what am I getting into!LOL!But a tiny voice told me..."Go...help will come your way...have faith."
True enough after a week or so,fellow members urged us to open a bank account for our group.Presto!Help poured like rain, from different parts of the world, all from loving, big hearted Camaliguenas. Some I do not even know personally.Indeed God is great! His grace never ceases to amaze me.You see,for more than three decades, not only did I meet again my favorite teacher in high school, she supported us from the very first sharing with all her love and devotion.Madam Aurora V. Banzuela, our group president.
As you all know today, our plan to feed a group of needy kids in Tagaytay, was followed with four more barangays namely;Salugan,Barayong Ilawod,Taladong and the most recent,in Sumlang.God blessed us more than we asked for.Not only did we share meals,we share gifts too.
I pray our good Lord Jesus Christ will continue to send more big hearted Camaliguenas, for us to spread His blessings.
     GOD bless CPwc!
